Writing about the looks, smells, feels, sounds, and tastes of water can help us figure out how to build poems about water-related social justice issues.
Writing about the looks, smells, feels, sounds, and tastes of water can help us figure out how to build poems about water-related social justice issues. Participants in this interactive workshop will create a bank of water-related words to draw from, build poetic images from these words, and then connect these images to together in the service of writing eco-justice poetry. If you're a poet who hasn't written a lot about water yet, you'll be encouraged to enter this thought space. If you're already a water advocate but a non-poet, you'll be encouraged to exercise your powerful voice through poetry. No special experience is necessary, just a willingness to be open to inclusive and creative risk-taking, writing, and conversation.
